Our work is as interesting as it is varied; we provide advice to our 20,000 members online, through videos, social media and more; we support community growing up and down the UK; we provide social and therapeutic horticulture to vulnerable adults and children; we support growing projects, and so much more.
Consumer awareness of the many benefits of organic gardening, farming and food is growing year on year, and we want to grow with it.
We’re looking for an ambitious, self-motivated fundraising professional to help us to develop and grow our income streams. You will get under the skin of the organisation, to understand our work inside and out. You will then help develop existing relationships, and identify and build new ones to source and secure funding from a wide range of sources including businesses, major donors, individual supporters, philanthropists, large trust and funds, and more.
You will be expected to generate leads and develop opportunities, whilst supporting our existing fundraising activities across the organisation.
Overall purpose of the role:
  • To significantly increase the net contributions to the charity through appropriate activities.
  • To establish good relationships with both existing and new funders, particularly focusing on businesses and high net worth individuals.
  • To understand the charity’s work inside out and be proactive in matching potential sources of funding to our priority projects.
Main Duties:
  • To work with departmental managers to identify fundraising needs, and to develop concept notes for discussion with funders.
  • To ‘open doors’ to allow directors and managers to lead approaches to funders.
  • To support directors and managers to prepare for funders meetings and to write funding bids and applications.
  • To maintain relationships with existing donors, including writing funder reports/updates.
  • To make contact with previous funders and supporters to regenerate lapsed relationships.
  • To identify new potential sources of funds, with a focus on high-value individuals and corporate donors.
  • To co-ordinate with ongoing fundraising activities with Trusts and Foundations.
  • To report against the key performance indicators in terms of fundraising contacts, income generation and fundraising pipeline.  Prepare reports for the management team and Board as required.
  • To maintain and update records on the Charity’s CRM ThankQ System.
  • To support the organisation of Garden Organic activities and events across the UK where needed.
It is the nature of work of Garden Organic that tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances, unpredictable and varied. All employees are expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises where tasks are not specifically covered in the Job Description and have to be undertaken. 
Some evening, weekend and bank holiday working will be required on a regular rotational basis.
